During my years of service on the San Bernardino City Unified School District, we have realized the following accomplishments.:

Improving Conditions in the Workplace

Successfully put teacher and other employees raises first while avoiding layoffs.

Improving the Financial Outlook of SBCUSD

Auditing and implementing new policies for ASB accounts.
Establishment of a Budget Advisory Committee.

Improving the Learning Environment for Students

• District funded community-based homework centers.
• Working to establish small learning communities
• Establishment and maintenance of District and city funded summer programs for youth.
• Establishment of the Curriculum Audit program.
• Middle-school and high school International Baccalaureate programs
• Environmental education
• Language programs
• Visual & performing arts
• Pre-school and infant-toddler day care.

Preparing Students for Life After Graduation

• Establishment of the Middle College High School to give students a head-start into college by having the ability to obtain both an Associates Degree and a High School Diploma simultaneously.
• Cadet corps
• High school career and job training

While many goals have been accomplished, a list of continued efforts include:
